Walk for Schools

Apr 30 - Danbury, CT

The students at ILS (PreK-8) have decided to take action in the fight against AIDS and poverty in Africa. By walking one mile in our school parking lot, we are reminded of the students in Africa we are supporting by helping them build a school.

The 6th-8th grade students at ILS have been learning about the serious problems that desimate families in Africa. We compaired our lives to those of the children in Africa. The students filled our a questionaire with questions like "how many pairs of shoes do you own?" or "do you own a cell phone?". When one student answered that she owned about 39 pairs of shoes, they soon realized the drastic differences of their lives and  the lives of many African children. That is why the students of ILS have decided to take simple action; what they do today will have an impact on their future and the future of their peers.

At the end of our school day on Friday April 16th, the students will be walking one mile in our school parking lot.  Because this is a part of our school day, this will be an ILS student event only and not open to the public. We ask that the public please support our walk by making donations through takethewalk.net in support of schools. Thank you for your understanding. LET'S WALK!!
